October Artist of the Month workshop: Nature Illustrations

Date: Friday, October 27, 2023
Time: 10am - 3pm
Venue: The Courthouse
Please bring photos, images or objects that remind you of pivotal moments in your life.

Join Michelle, the October artist of the month in our Cafe Collection, to create a beautiful illustration in pen and watercolour.

During this workshop your tutor Michelle will guide you to create beautiful illustrations, inspired by nature.

Using a photograph of a bird, animal, plant, flower or insect as a reference, you will be drawing using pens of varying thickness. You will also be combining watercolour painting with collaging, choosing from a range of patterned or coloured paper. You will use various techniques to achieve different results. You will create several illustrations, keeping them fresh and spontaneous.

You will be guided by Michelle Wade; a graphic designer (BA Hon) and illustrator working in pen & ink & watercolours inspired by the natural world. Michelle will be displaying her 2-D artworks as our October artist of the month. She also creates ceramic sculptural art with a strong narrative around animals and plants.

Michelle was a senior university lecturer in graphic design for six years and now delivers many workshops for adults and children in ceramics, illustration, needle-felting, printmaking and typography.
