Introduction to the Handpan (Sat 1st April)

Date: Saturday, April 1, 2023
Time: 2pm-4pm
Venue: The Courthouse
Learn about this new and exciting instrument and how its principles of rhythm can be applied to any other instrument.

In this workshop you will learn about the history of the Handpan, how it has been made, who it was made by and where they are made in the UK.

You will learn basic techniques of how to play the instrument, how to create your own songs, as well as having an introduction to rhythm.

You will take away a new practice routine which will allow you to develop your own understanding of rhythm and how it can be applied to music following the class.

This workshop will be delivered by Joe Jordan who is a freelance artist / musician based in North Yorkshire. Joe studied Graphic Design at Sheffield Hallam and has worked as a freelance musician for the last 7 years. He is the creator of coloured sound with 3 independent albums released to date and Joe is also the owner of ONE Rhythm, offering tuition for people all over the world.

Suitable For: This workshop is great for anyone interested in music, opening the possibilities of rhythm and how it can be incorporated into not only the Handpan, but any and all instruments.
