Experimenting with Poetry

Date: Saturday, January 8, 2022
Time: 10am-12pm
Venue: The Courthouse
All materials and tools are provided but you are welcome to bring your own with you.

Gain confidence in your skills and inspire the inner writer within you by taking part in our adult’s poetry workshop ran by BBC Radio York’s Poet Laureate.

In this workshop you will explore and play with language and rhythm, guided by local poet, Olivia Mulligan. She will share with you her favourite techniques and tips to craft a poem that you can be proud of.
Olivia says: “a theme is always a good starting point, but through this workshop we will practise the journey of expressing our own voice and how to avoid the predictable”.

Olivia is passionate about sharing her love of poetic practice with others. She has studied creative writing at Royal Holloway, University of London, and was awarded the departmental prize. She has had two poetry books published: ‘Poems On The Gate Post’ and ‘Advice From A Stranger.’ She has also had ‘endless fun’ running a series of poetry workshops in schools across the country.

Adults (16+), beginners as well as the keen poet!

£25 (£20 + £5 materials)
