A four-week specialist creative course designed to take you from the basics of watercolour painting to creating a finished piece of your own.

Perfect for complete beginners or anyone looking to build their confidence with watercolour, this relaxed and supportive course will introduce you to a range of techniques across four three-hour sessions. You’ll have plenty of time to experiment, practise and develop your skills with guidance from experienced artist, Jo Lawson.

Each week will focus on a different aspect of watercolour:

Week 1 – Watercolour Techniques
Get to know your materials and explore the fundamentals of watercolour, including colour mixing, washes, brush control, layering and creating different effects.

Week 2 – Flowers & Botanicals
Put your new skills into practice by exploring flowers and botanical forms, experimenting with colour, shape and looser painting techniques.

Week 3 – Landscapes
Discover how to approach landscapes in watercolour, looking at composition, depth, colour and ways to capture atmosphere.

Week 4 – Your Own Project
Bring everything you’ve learnt together to develop your own watercolour piece, with individual guidance and support from the artist.

All tools and materials will be provided.

Jo completed an art degree at Winchester School of Art and worked in the art and design industry before gaining a PGCE and has been teaching for over 20 years.
