All materials and tools provided, but please bring any photos or drawings as a reference to work from. Aprons are also advised!

Sculpt a human, animal or mythical head in clay…

Get hands-on during this one day workshop. Sculpt your own ceramic head using crank clay. Learn how to mould, form and carve your head and choose from human, animal or mythical heads as your inspiration. Collect you head once it is fired and learn about different finishing techniques you can apply.

Book onto one day to make a smaller head, or two days to make a larger head.

This workshop will be delivered by Kay Latto who has exhibited locally and nationally, including at the 250th Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2019 with her Grayson Perry sculpture.

Extra Info: 

  • Firing will take between 8 – 10 weeks due to the need for the clay to fully dry out before firing.
  • Both workshops will run from 10am-4pm
  • A pre-order form will be available on Saturday’s session should you wish to buy lunch in our cafe during your workshop. You can view our menu here.
  • The cafe will not be open on Sunday, so please bring along your own refreshments.

  • If The Courthouse opens before your workshop starts, you’re welcome to browse our artisan shop – maybe we stock the artist running the workshop!
  • You’re welcome to grab a coffee of a snack from our friendly café and take it through into the workshop with you
  • If you have any access requirements, let us know.
  • There is no parking at The Courthouse except for Blue Badge holders who must let us know they will be needing the space
