Ceramics Coil Vases (Two Days)

Learn how to use the coil method to produce a large, sculptural vessel. In the second session, choose from a range of glazes to decorate and finish your vessel.

Learn how to use the coil method to produce a large, sculptural vessel in this two part workshop.

Pause and reflect, by following a grounded process, that responds to and understands clay as a material. Learn how to create clay coils to produce your vase.

Your tutor Emily, will guided you on how to decorate your vessel using mark-making techniques. You will also be shown how to add additional pieces to your vase. In the second session you will be able to choose from a range of glazes to decorate and finish your vessel, to create a truly unique piece.

This workshop will be delivered by Emily Seville who is a Manchester-based visual artist and meditation practitioner specialising in hand-built sculptural ceramics. Her work focuses on our connection to nature and she has previously been commissioned by Northern Roots to produce an outdoor installation for their festival 10,000 Steps Around The World.

Extra Info: 

  • You will need to attend both dates to book onto the course. (!5th and 29th July) There is a two week gap between sessions to allow time for the pieces to be bisque fired in between, allowing for better glazing application in the second session.
  • The vases will be glazed and fired after the workshop ready for you to collect. The second firing may take up to 3 weeks.
  • You will be contacted by email once your pieces are ready to collect.

  • There is no parking at The Courthouse except for Blue Badge holders who must let us know they will be needing the space
