Basics for Beginners: Clay (4 week course)

All materials and equipment are provided, but do feel free to bring along a sketchbook or notebook.

Join us on Wednesday mornings for this tutor-led ceramic course, aimed at very beginners, in a friendly, supportive studio environment. 

Learn about the properties of different clays including earthenware and stoneware and how to create hand-built forms using a variety of methods, including coiling, pinch pot forming and slab rolling. Catherine will guide students to undertake their own projects and develop their creativity in this four week course.

Suitable For: No previous experience necessary. The classes are ideal for those who have not worked in clay before.

Other Info: 

  • All work be fired in our kiln. Firing takes between 2 – 4 weeks.

  • There is no parking at The Courthouse except for Blue Badge holders who must let us know they will be needing the space
