Music Monthlies: Plumhall
Plumhall (Michelle Plum & Nick B Hall) are a critically acclaimed UK songwriting duo known for their emotionally rich harmonies, distinctive guitar interplay, and a powerful blend of acoustic intimacy and electric edge. Their original songs combine narrative depth with melodic sophistication, earning them a reputation as one of the most compelling acts on the contemporary folk-rock scene.
Their most recent studio album One Star Awake (2024) featured Ric Sanders and Eliza Marshall and received widespread praise. The album was launched on a 30-date winter tour with Fairport Convention, who joined Plumhall on stage each night for the title track. The duo also performed at Costa Festival in Ibiza and returned to the Fairport’s Cropredy Convention in 2025, where they delivered a standout full-band set.
Plumhall’s other career highlights include performances with Al Stewart at the London Palladium, Cadogan Hall and Manchester RNCM, as well as writing and appearing in the feature film The Runaways (2020). Their lockdown livestreams built a devoted international following and inspired a fan-made video championed by the late Janice Long.
Michelle’s background includes Chumbawamba and Waking The Witch, while Nick has toured with Ian Prowse, Magna Carta and The Hall Brothers. In 2026, Plumhall are currently writing their fourth studio album, continuing to evolve their sound while remaining rooted in strong songwriting and joyful live performance.
