What is FEAST?

FEAST offers loads of different things to do in the school holidays.

All children and young people across North Yorkshire can get involved in a range of holiday activities, with free places and a free meal for children and young people receiving benefits-related free school meals.

FEAST partners with leading holiday playschemes, clubs and activity providers from across North Yorkshire to offer a wide range of sessions for kids of all ages from Reception to Year 11.

FEAST is here to help families throughout the school holidays, by providing food and things to do without adding to the growing pressure on income.

Everyone in North Yorkshire can join in, with FREE places for those (from Reception to Year 11) who receive benefits-related free school meals.

Eligible families receive information about FEAST and a voucher to book their free place via their school through an online system called HolidayActivities. If you’re registered for benefits-related Free School Meals and don’t have your voucher, please contact your school.

Who is eligible for free FEAST places?

Children and young people receiving benefits-related free school meals are automatically eligible for free places at FEAST activities.

All children and young people from reception to year 11 (inclusive) who receive benefits-related free school meals are eligible for FEAST.

Schools can also make a small number of additional children eligible by exception if they face significant financial and/or other disadvantage (see below).

If you aren’t eligible for a free FEAST place, many of our FEAST activity providers also offer paid places alongside their free FEAST spaces.

What impact does FEAST have?

In 2023 – 2024, we had 14,660 eligible young people in North Yorkshire, who attended 32,208 activities.
