James McDermott - Rubber Ring

The Courthouse Thirsk
Friday 8th February
"Jimmy is sixteen, sexually confused and stuck in Sheringham. He’s screwed. Well he’s not actually: that’s the problem. Where can Jimmy explore in Norfolk? Rock pools. So when pop star Morrissey comes to London, Jimmy flees to the city to try and find his hero and himself.

‘Rubber Ring’ is a coming of age comedy about a Norfolk teenager struggling with sexual and regional identity who learns to love without labels, love himself and love his Norfolk roots.

After having seen writer James McDermott perform at the NRTF showcase in June, Rural Arts are delighted to present Rubber Ring in celebration of LGBT History Month.
