“Mad Hatter: "Have I gone mad?" Alice: "I'm afraid so. You're entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret. All the best people are.”

Make your very own tea cup and saucers and come along to our very special tea party as part of our half term workshops inspired by Lewis Carroll.

Learn how to make your very own colourful ceramic cups and saucers inspired by the story and characters of Alice in Wonderland circus. You will learn how to make pinch pots or coil pots, as well as how to join decorative elements using slip. You will have an assortment of our underglaze paints to choose from to add colour to your pieces, which will then be bisque fired and glazed fired ready for collection. After you have made your ceramics join us for a special tea party. (snacks provided)

Suitable For: Ages 5+

Materials: All materials provided. You will be provided with clay, with a choice to make three mini pots or cups approx 5cm high by cm wide, or one larger piece cm high by cm high

Other Info:

  • Please allow up to 3-4 weeks for your ceramics to be fired.
  • When booking ensure that you give us your correct contact details so we are able to let you know when your work is ready for collection.
  • Please note we do not issue physical tickets, please use your email confirmation as proof of purchase.

Rural Arts is the perfect place to visit with your family. Our cafe is breastfeeding friendly and we also have:

• Free nappies, nappy bags, wet wipes • Books and games

Car Parking

The Courthouse offers disabled parking for Blue Badge owners. If you will be needing to use the disabled parking please contact us prior to arrival so we can reserve you a place in our carpark. 

Wheel Chair Access

The Courthouse has wheel chair access into, and throughout, the building. There is a lift providing access to the second floor and disabled toilet.

If you are coming to a workshop or performance please let us know in advance so we can allocate a space for you in the audience or studio.


If you have purchased a place on a workshop or to one of our performances at The Courthouse and are bringing a carer with you, please let us know when you book your place. Carers are welcome to attend the activity, but if they wish to participate they will need to book a place.
