Freehand Machine Embroidery (Sat 12th Sep)

The Old Courthouse Thirsk
Saturday 12th September

(£30 + £5 materials)

Explore the art of freehand machine embroidery to create a variety of textiles samples using a combination of designs and colours.

With guidance from the tutor, you will experiment with colour and form to create a beautiful design onto fabric. You will explore freehand machine embroidery by creating a number of samples or larger pieces if preferred. You will also have the opportunity to use additional textiles techniques alongside embroidery on the day.

Your tutor Linda is an experienced retired textiles teacher who has taught a number of workshops at Rural Arts. She has a passion for anything creative and crafty, using a wide variety of media to create original designs and concepts and especially enjoys having the oppurtunity to encourage individuals' creativity.

Suitable For: All abilities

Materials: All materials provided. Sewing machines will be provided, however people are welcomed to bring their own along if preferred.

Extra Info:

  • It is recommended that you come with a brief idea of design or a preferred colour scheme that can be developed with the tutor within the session.

We want your day with us to be relaxed, offering you a bit of escapism and the chance to get to know like-minded people (plus there’s the bonus of getting to take something you have lovingly made home with you!).

Get to know others in the group whilst enjoying a drink in the Rural Arts Café before heading through to the workshop to start getting creative! The Café will be open throughout the day for you to get drinks and delicious lunches and cakes. Visit the café page to view our menu.
