Heart & Craft ran for 24 months and was funded by the National Lottery Community Fund to provide art activities for the over 55’s in eight communities across North Yorkshire.
Throughout the project, members had the opportunity to explore a range of mediums through our friendly and relaxed activities. We explored peg-loom wool weaving, jewellery making, fused glass techniques, ceramics, willow weaving, silk painting, printmaking and much more!
In total, we delivered 186 workshops, via 26 artists, to over 2,000 participants. The Coronavirus pandemic changed how we usually work, meaning we also delivered remote workshops, put together a virtual exhibition and sent out over 500 postal craft packs.
We’re incredibly proud of what Heart & Craft has achieved, and are currently seeking further funding to ensure we can continue to support some of the most vulnerable and isolated older people across North Yorkshire.
You can view some of the brilliant Heart & Crafter creations below in our Virtual Exhibition.

My craft pack was great to receive on a rainy day! Been collaging all afternoon and lost track of time – run out of glue! Great idea!
