Get Hands on with ... Sculpture (4 week course, June 2021)

The Courthouse Thirsk
Tuesday 8th June

(£150 for 4 weeks, all materials included, 8th June to 29th June)

Explore the human torso, combining observational and sculptural techniques. Develop your very own mini sculpture in this four week course.

Throughout this four week course, you will explore the structure of the torso through careful observation of the model and the form in 3 dimensions. It will provide an opportunity to model a third life size sculpture, in clay, and for those interested , you will be able to continue on to make a mould of the clay model, and cast the torso. Those who wish to, can alternatively, fire the model in the kiln.

The course is led by artist Chris Wormald who has over 25 years experience of sculpting and casting. He has conducted several workshops and private courses, and given talks on sculpture, drawing and perception, as well as clay modelling demonstrations, travelling to various arts society's, within Yorkshire and beyond.

Chris has produced works as lead artist on the Beverley Town Trail, York Walls trail, and others, and worked on many international projects for various clientele, worldwide.

Chris's practice has revolved around constructed steel pieces, exploring visual relationships, with an interest in how the visual apprehension of physical, spacial relationship, impacts on the emotional condition of those perceiving .
