Crafts at The Courthouse give you the opportunity to learn or develop an artistic skill in a relaxed, creative environment. Based at The Old Courthouse in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, our creative workshops are perfect for beginners looking to try something new for the first time, and also for those who already have experience but want to have another go!
" Really enjoyed just being able to 'have a go'
at monoprinting! Good demonstration and lots
of help along the way. "
We want your day with us to be relaxed, offering you a bit of escapism and the chance to get to know like-minded people (plus there’s the bonus of getting to take something you have lovingly made home with you!). We love documenting your outcomes with photographs, and love it even more when you document them yourselves - so if you use social media make sure to upload your pictures and share what you've made with us and your friends.
On a Wednesday we run 'Taste of Art' sessions from 10.30am-12noon, and they give you an insight into a craft and inspire you to do more. You don't have to be a creative person to take part as the sessions are aimed at all levels and the focus is on experimentation. Most of our sessions use materials and equipment that are accessible and low cost and we always try to provide ceramic activities that utilise our kiln. Once a month we run our Taste of Art on a Thursday evening, so if you work through the day you don’t have to miss out on the fun!
" Good experience. Lots of fun and positive
feedback from the other participants. "
Get to know others in the group whilst enjoying a drink in The Courthouse Café before heading through to the workshop to start getting creative! The Café will be open throughout the day for you to get drinks and delicious lunches and cakes. Visit The Courthouse Café page to view our menu.
" It was a wonderful time for self expression
and creativity with no 'right' or 'wrong' "
" Absorbing and rewarding.
Better than therapy!! "
