“In the town... in which Charlie lived, there was an ENORMOUS CHOCOLATE FACTORY! Just imagine that! And it wasn't simply an ordinary enormous chocolate factory, either. It was the largest and most famous in the whole world!”

Create your very own fantasy sweets and chocolates in our half term workshops inspired by Roald Dahl.

Make your very own ceramic everlasting gobstopper, snozberry or chocolate river scene inspired by the famous Roald Dahl classic, Charlie and the Chcolate Factory. Learn how to roll clay and mould it into shape, as well as how to attach clay together using slip. Finish your piece with our coourful underglaze paints and leave it with us to be bisque and glaze fired, ready for collection.

Suitable For: Ages 5+

Materials: All materials provided.

Other Info:

  • Please allow up to 3-4 weeks for your ceramics to be fired.
  • When booking ensure that you give us your correct contact details so we are able to let you know when your work is ready for collection.
  • Please note we do not issue physical tickets, please use your email confirmation as proof of purchase.

Our holiday workshops are perfect for the family. We have a selection of activities for you to enjoy and afterwards you are more than welcome to stay for a bite to eat at our family friendly cafe.

Rural Arts is the perfect place to visit with your family. Our cafe is breastfeeding friendly and we also have:

• High chairs
• Children’s menu
• A changing unit
• Free nappies, nappy bags, wet wipes • Books and games


Disability Access

Car Parking

The Courthouse offers disabled parking for Blue Badge owners. If you will be needing to use the disabled parking please contact us prior to arrival so we can reserve you a place in our carpark. 

Wheel Chair Access

The Courthouse has wheel chair access into, and throughout, the building. There is a lift providing access to the second floor and disabled toilet.

If you are coming to a workshop or performance please let us know in advance so we can allocate a space for you in the audience or studio.


If you have purchased a place on a workshop or to one of our performances at The Courthouse and are bringing a carer with you, please let us know when you book your place. Carers are welcome to attend the activity, but if they wish to participate they will need to book a place.
