Event: Fly The Flag

The Courthouse Thirsk
Saturday 22nd June

To mark the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, FUEL have partnered with arts organisations and human rights charities across the UK, and commissioned artist Ai Weiwei to create a flag to celebrate universal human rights.

In recognition of this, arts organisations and human rights charities across the country are hosting special events as part of Fly the Flag week on 24 - 30 June 2019.

Rural Arts invites you to create your very own flags and paper characters, in one of our free afternoon drop-in sessions on Saturday 22nd June. Your creations will then be exhibited in The Courthouse on the 28th and 29th June as part of "Fly the Flag" week alongside work created by the young people who participate in our weekly Art Clubs.

During the sessions, you will be able to choose from from a variety of materials, including paint, chalks and fabric, to make your flags and paper characters. You will decorate them with pictures, quotes and more, to create your own response to recognising that human rights are for everyone, every day. Add your own thoughts on human rights to our interactive chalkboard and come along to the exhibition the following week to see your finished flags on display.

FREE TICKET (Flag Workshop) Saturday 22nd June, 2 - 4pm, The Old Courthouse, Thirsk Tickets Available: 40
