Enjoy the day learning to spin on a drop spindle. Using natural fibres in a range of different colours you will design and create your very own handspun yarn. You will create your own unique colour palette with which to work from, thinking about how different colours will work together when combined. This workshop will focus on learning skills and techniques needed to spin on a drop spindle and to help you create your own unique yarn.

Please note you will be going home with some spun yarn and the skills and knowledge to spin using a drop spindle, you won’t have spun enough on this beginners day workshop for your next huge knitting project!

You may like to use the yarn you have created during this workshop along with lots more lovely yarn provided on the day to weave your own chunky scarf. You could join us for Agnis Smallwood's peg loom weaving workshop on Saturday 9th February.

This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with no prior knowledge of spinning.

Please note: We don't issue physical tickets. Please use your email order confirmation as proof of purchase.

We want your day with us to be relaxed, offering you a bit of escapism and the chance to get to know like-minded people (plus there’s the bonus of getting to take something you have lovingly made home with you!).

Get to know others in the group whilst enjoying a drink in the Rural Arts Café before heading through to the workshop to start getting creative! The Café will be open throughout the day for you to get drinks and delicious lunches and cakes. Visit the café page to view our menu.
