Painting with Watercolour - Fruits (Sat 12th June)

The Courthouse Thirsk
Saturday 12th June

(£30 + £5 materials)

Learn to capture the succulent textures and vivid colours of your favourite fruits in watercolour.

From intricate and detailed studies, to quick, painterly suggestions, fruit is a brilliant subject from which to learn about watercolour painting. Paint from life, or from images, and capture fruit arrangements or close up details using this accessible and vibrant medium. Watercolour is a versatile form of painting that can be done in a controlled way to paint tiny details, but also in a loose way, with large brush strokes that can bring unexpected and beautiful results. We will explore colour mixing and how to use washes to achieve different effects, as well as how to add interesting details to your fruits.

Lucy Crookes is a Leeds based graphic designer who studied Art and Design at the University of Leeds. In her spare time she loves to illustrate using watercolour, and paints anything from portraits and still lifes, to landscapes.

Suitable For: Suitable for all abilities.

Materials: All materials are provided, but pleae bring along your own fruit to observe if you wish.
