Diversity in the Arts

At Rural Arts, we champion diversity in all forms – across the arts and beyond.

We’re dedicating this page to celebrating the successes of artists from underrepresented backgrounds and marginalised groups. We will also use it to highlight how far we have to go to become a truly inclusive society, creatively and otherwise.

Rural Arts is committed to:

  • Anti-racism
  • Feminism
  • The social model of disability
  • LGBTQIA+ inclusivity

The Courthouse is breast-feeding and family friendly, providing free baby-changing and sanitary products. We have three private, gender-neutral bathrooms and a certified ‘Changing Place’ accessible bathroom.

You can download a copy of our Equal Opportunities Policy here.

Rural Arts presents the LGBTQIA+ Short Film Season, celebrating diverse voices in cinema!

Rural Arts are pleased to invite filmmakers from the LGBTQIA+ community to submit short films to our Short Film Season. The season is dedicated to amplifying stories, experiences, and perspectives of the community through the art of short filmmaking. The themes of the films should either reflect and shed light on the struggles for rights and acceptance faced by the community throughout history, further our understanding of social injustices in the present, or depict your hopes for the future.
