Easter Holiday Activities

Easter Holiday Activities at Rural Arts

??Happy Easter from Rural Arts! ??
We had lots of fun over the two week Easter holiday break.
In the first week we ran family workshops on how to make wind chimes, easter wreaths and glass paintings. We also had the lovely Theatre Fideri Fidera perform their show Oskar’s Amazing Adventure which went down a storm with all the children! In the second week we had three more great workshops, with botanical painting, shibori eco-dyeing and tile painted birds and insects. Take a look below, to see everything we got up to!

WEEK ONE

For our first workshop of the week we made some lovely wind chimes, out of all different sorts of objects, including bottle caps, beads, buttons and jewellery.

This wind chime even included purple green and red lights, making it even more colourful and creative!

We also made some lovely Easter wreaths, using willow branch and easter themed paper decorations.

On Thursday afternoon, the younger audiences at Rural Arts were treated to Oskar’s Amazing Adventure at the Courthouse. The children absolutely loved Oskar the dog, and all the other fun characters in the story!

WEEK TWO

For our second week, we made Botanical Paintings and Tile Paintings, with lots of lovely work created.

We also tried out some Shibori Eco-Dyeing; dyeing fabrics with all kinds of natural colours, including beetroot, onion skins, paprika, turmeric and even cochineal, made from beetles! Yuk!

Make sure you don’t miss out on our next big family activity event on 5th May, where we will be running drop-in workshops, up until midday, to make banners and flags for the Tour de Yorkshire.
