MY CREATETour…
With RJC Dance
For our first CREATE Tour project of 2018, we worked with RJC Dance to provide a number of carnival dance workshops to young people across North Yorkshire: at Tuned In! Redcar, at Butterflies Dance School in Thirsk and at Primary Schools Badger Hill Primary and Whitecliffe Primary, both in Saltburn-by-the-sea.

We asked our young people at the workshops what they most enjoyed about taking part in the project…
“Everything!”
“I liked how enthusiastic the dance was, we had fun and expressed how well we can dance.”
“Learning new dances and creating your own dance”
– Tuned In!
(Butterflies Workshop)
“It was really fun and different to any other dances I have tried before”
– Butterflies

After running some amazing workshops, RJC Dance then went on to perform their brand new energetic dance show Still’ Blazin’, with the first performance taking place at Freebrough Academy in Cleveland. We got some great feedback from the students:
“The dancers were amazing. The atmosphere was great and got the crowd excited”
“Exciting and full of life”
“Mind-blowing and packed with talent”
“The most brilliant time of my life”

RJC Dance also took the show to Tuned In! Redcar, Loftus Town Hall and our hometown of Thirsk here at Rural Arts!

The ON Tour team got the chance to watch the show at the Thirsk Town Hall performance and it was amazing!
Our highlight of the show had to be Jerome’s solo dance “Halo” which was absolutely stunning. The audience were cheering and tapping their feet throughout the show. Everyone seemed to enjoy it! As one of our Art Cafe regulars Rita said:
“There was such musicality in the dances... it was excellent”…
Bob, an ON Tour promoter for PIN at Newton-Le-Willows Village Hall, also came along to the show. Take a look at what he had to say on our CREATE Tour Instagram:

We had so much fun working with young dancers at the workshop and seeing RJC Dance perform and we’re very much looking forward to the next CREATE Tour, which is fast approaching! Coming to the Ryedale area in April, the young people of Norton College will perform a curtain-raiser to Tamasha Theatre‘s “I Wanna Be Yours” as part of #createtour18
The show will be touring to Stillington, The Milton Rooms and Gilling East. (For tickets, click on the links)
