“FLOWERINGS” EXHIBITION

As part of North Yorkshire Open Studios
Rural Arts are hosting  an exhibition: “Flowerings”
 Saturday 14th May – 25th June
(Mon – Sat 10am – 4.30pm) and
May Bank Holiday weekend Sat and Sun 28th and 29th May (10am – 4.30pm).
Jewellery by Judith Brown and Ruth Moore,  ceramics by Iona Calvert and textiles by Dionne Swift.

Flowerings: Artists have long revelled in the pleasure of adapting materials to record their loving understanding of living landscapes. The work in this exhibition continues this timeless of tradition of making jewellery, textiles and clay say ‘tree’, and ‘field’ and ‘flower’.  Expect work that celebrates natural forms in unlikely and gorgeous materials by new and established artists and makers.  The exhibition is curated by Lara Goodband.

Judith Brown hand-stitches her intricate jewellery with wire (www.judithbrownjewellery.co.uk).  She exhibits at select contemporary craft events and galleries throughout Britain and abroad.  Ruth Moore is a jewellery designer and painter from Sheffield (www.ruthamoore.co.uk).   Iona Calvert is a trained print-maker with a new fascination for ceramics (www.ionacalvert.co.uk). She combines a variety of hand printing and painting techniques in her decoration of hand-built porcelain pots.   Dionne Swift studied Embroidery at Goldsmiths College and translates her vision of the world into cloth (www.dionneswift.co.uk).
