RESTART Film making in Harrogate

The RESTART project has used money from the LSC and the European Social Fund to provide learning opportunities for young people aged 14 -19 who are not in, or at risk of not being in, either education, employment or training (NEET), and has been delivered by a number of different organisations across the North Yorkshire area working in partnership through the North Yorkshire Learning Consortium.

For RESTART in Harrogate, the charity Carers’ Resource has been working closely with Rural Arts to engage young carers from a number of different schools in the area through the new bronze level Arts Award. The first group began working on a film project at the Starbeck Youth and Community Centre in February and have worked alongside a specialist film artist to plan, film and edit a short comedy film about their local Youth Centre. Through the project many of the group have developed an interest in creating their own media work and expressing their ideas through film and have really engaged with the project. The Carers’ Resource team is now looking to set up a second project along similar lines.
