Linton school mural
This project was recently undertaken with children, staff and parents from Linton primary school near York. The whole school worked with Angela Hall from Rural Arts on this tiled ceramic, which measures approximately 1.5m x 1m and will be installed in the school foyer.
The piece of work coincided with the 50th birthday of both the school and RAF Linton and celebrates the local community, a wide range of school activities including the outdoor swimming pool, music, the vegetable garden and pond. It also takes a historical look at the aeroplanes that are associated with the base including the Red Arrows, the Euro Fighter and Halifax Bomber. The river Ouse is also depicted alongside Linton Locks and the great variety of fauna and flora that can be found along its banks.
The mural is made from colourful hand made tiles that were created by the children using a range of techniques.
This project was funded by Awards for All.
