Metal Casting:
Working with clay, participants can produce a template from which bronze or gunmetal pieces can be cast. This technique is suitable for plaques with which to embellish way marked walks, milestones and street furniture.
Willow Withies:
a, Use willow, tissue and latex to create large and small scale colourful semi permanent sculptural forms for processional use, lanterns and decorations.
b, Use flexible green withies to create decorative sculptural forms for garden ornamentation.
Wire and Plaster:
This technique involves producing a sculptural form from wire and mesh. This base shape is then enhanced and decorated iwth the application of plaster. Sculptures made in this manner will degrade attractively over a period of time, if installed outdoors.
Wood:
Rural Arts can provide experts in most aspects of working in wood. Groups and individuals can use found timber such as branches, twigs and driftwood to create sculptural forms, can become involved in the design of a large piece of chainsaw sculpture utilising a fallen branch or tree trunk, or using traditional tools and techniques, learn the art of wood carving.
