Performance and Dance

Rural Arts can provide workshop leaders to help a group choreograph and prepare for a production. We work with a number of dancers and drama practitioners who provide a comprehensive selection of workshops, encouraging participants to explore movement and performance techniques.
Sessions are tailored to suit the ability and experience of the group and range from one-off workshops to longer courses.

Dance
Whether it is just for fun, or in preparation for a performance, dance workshops give a group the opportunity to be creative and express themselves physically. During these sessions participants will learn a number of movements and sequences, which will then be incorporated into the choreography of their own live or filmed performance. Dance pieces can be based on a particular theme or curriculum topic and can be used to explore other subjects such as science, maths and literature.
Popular workshops include Contemporary Dance, Street Dance,
Break Dancing and Bhangra.
Music and Movement sessions for toddler groups are also available. Designed to encourage children to enjoy music and express themselves in movement this workshop is great fun!

Drama
Rural Arts can provide workshops and tuition covering all aspects of staging a production, working with specialists in scriptwriting, performance tuition, set and costume design, lighting techniques, sound track production, special effects and choreography. One workshop leader could be brought in to work on one aspect of the production, or you could work with a whole team of specialists.

Shadow Puppetry
This workshop uses a shadow puppet screen and traditional puppet-making techniques. Participants devise a story, make their puppets and put on a production in front of an audience.
Shadow puppetry originates from Indonesia, so this workshop
type is a popular multicultural learning choice, in which traditional
Indonesian tales are performed. Suitable for all ages.
